After 9 months on the road, cruising the North and South Island, The Nomadic Art Gallery are proud to invite all to their last exhibition, where three female artists Inga Fillary, Celine Frampton and Delicia Sampera will tackle the subject of death, on the grounds of Corban Estate Arts Centre.

Six winners of previous Graffiti Battles challenge one another to be the champion! Painting on the large outdoor wall at Corban Estate, they will go head to head for 5 hours in a showdown of lettering, technique, and style. Come along and enjoy the action, participate in a hands-on workshop, and pick your winner!

These works follow from the Te Waituhi-ā-Nuku / Drawing Ecologies wānanga (Feb / Jul 2019) which invited artists to respond to climate change impacts on the ancestral land of Ngāti Tukōrehe around Kuku in Horowhenua. We acknowledge the mana of Ngāti Tukōrehe, attesting to their manaakitanga, and honouring their example of kaitiakitanga. We offer these drafts in the spirit of whakawhitinga kōrero.

Looking at the current exhibition by Toi Te Rito Maihi, we will be weaving bright strips of coloured paper to explore pattern and symmetry.

Through music, spoken word, rap and by sharing personal experiences, young people speak out about their challenges with mental health, how anxiety, depression and thoughts of ending their lives have affected them, and what has helped them recover.

This workshop is inspired by the painting style of artist Ayesha Green, where we will use simplified forms and images from the landscape in Aotearoa, to create postcards for friends and whanau.
