We acknowledge the mana of Ngāti Tukōrehe, attesting to their manaakitanga, and honouring their example of kaitiakitanga. We offer these drafts in the spirit of whakawhitinga kōrero.

Inspired by artist Sena Park’s residency in Mongolia, come and explore the current sculptural installation and then create your own responsive 3D dreamscape of Mongolia.

NUKU is a new multimedia series by exhibiting artist Qiane Matata-Sipu. Come along to see a trailer for the first ten profiles in the series, which will profile 100 Indigenous women. After the trailer, Qiane will give a talk about the project and her work.

Celebrate the great big wonderful world of ANIMALIA. Spend the day exploring, discovering and creating, with exhibitions, workshops and live performances inspired by how animals look, walk, talk, work, rest and play.

Award-winning artist Tom Voyce is currently undertaking a residency in the Corban Estate Arts Centre Barrel Store space until the end of January 2019. Throughout the residency, Voyce will have access to the unique Corban Estate landscape with an abundance of inspiration for his contemporary landscape paintings. Explore your creativity in this exclusive drawing class for adults and teenagers as part of Still Life with Flowers exhibition. With a guest tutor for guidance, you will be set up with an easel and drawing materials whilst letting a still-life floral arrangement inspire you.

An open-ended creative workshop for children to assemble their own still-life work using collage/paper cut-outs inspired by the floral works in the exhibition.

Word Up! is an exciting performance competition which gives 13 – 21 year olds the opportunity to present their original work: from rap, poetry and spoken word to song lyrics, or even stand-up comedy.

Te Pou presents the third year of the annual Kōanga Festival from 1-16 September, a vital celebration of Māori storytelling.

Join us in a discussion with artist Quishile Charan and guests, as we unpack her latest exhibition like a lotus that grows from the mud. The exhibition pays homage and acknowledges female Girmityas, historically unrecognised indentured labourers.

Working with archival images from Linda T.’s collection, we will be making postcards. Using black and white photographs, these postcards will capture life around the wider Auckland region from the 1980s to 2018.

A programme of Māori-made and themed short films curated by the Wairoa Maori Film Festival, presented at the Corban Estate Arts Centre as part of the Auckland Matariki Festival 2018.

Matariki is a time for honouring the past, family, and to prepare for the new year. Moving Matariki is a creative movement workshop, where participants are invited to bring someone from a different generation, a friend or family member, to dance together and exchange stories.

Held by Stars, our latest Matariki exhibition, celebrates the lives of those who have passed. In celebration of new life, come and learn about Ipu whenua, a traditional process of Māori people which includes burying whenua (placenta of newborns) in a special place.

Melbourne based artist, Robert Young, a Gunnai, Gunditjmarra Yorta Yorta and Waradjurie man, will share his journey of identity and culture.

Looking at the current exhibition by Toi Te Rito Maihi, we will be weaving bright strips of coloured paper to explore pattern and symmetry.

Through music, spoken word, rap and by sharing personal experiences, young people speak out about their challenges with mental health, how anxiety, depression and thoughts of ending their lives have affected them, and what has helped them recover.

This workshop is inspired by the painting style of artist Ayesha Green, where we will use simplified forms and images from the landscape in Aotearoa, to create postcards for friends and whanau.

Through live performances, wearable arts parades, drumming, singing, and creative workshops, InterACT fosters the talent of people with disabilities in a festival where everybody can thrive. A free event thanks to Auckland Council, The Trusts Community Foundation and IHC Charitable Foundation.
