The Vacant Spaces Pop-Up Gallery: IN Power in Reflection

The Vacant Spaces Pop-Up Gallery is brought to you by Eke Panuku Development Auckland and Corban Estate Arts Centre, and is part of the Henderson town centre revitalisation project. It is a celebration of art and culture in conjunction with CEAC’s year-long initiative Play, Create, and Learn.

This inspiring project invites artists to reimagine vacant shop windows, turning them into vibrant temporary art installations that reflect the rich creative spirit of the community, transform everyday space, and make art accessible to everyone.

Rooted in CEAC’s commitment to fostering creativity in all its forms, this initiative goes beyond beautification—it’s about breathing new life into underutilized spaces while showcasing the incredible talent of local artists. By exploring themes such as Henderson’s history, natural environment, and cultural diversity, artists are weaving the stories of the town into imaginative displays that invite public engagement, curiosity, reflection and connection.

"Reflection is a dance between what happens inside and outside of us, a constant exchange that transforms us and leads us to understand our shared humanity." — Espora Digital

What is presented here are not just individual pieces, but a visual reflection on what it means to be a contemporary warrior—one not defined by battle, but by collective creation.
True power arises from interdependence: the warrior is formed like nature itself, through the collaboration of all the elements that shape it. To be a warrior is to acknowledge fragility, the need to belong to something greater, and the constant process of adaptation and reconstruction. It is a blend of resilience, vulnerability, and awareness.

This space opens a visual conversation about how we form and transform together.
A reminder that what we believe ourselves to be can only exist through what we share, what nourishes us, and what is woven through encounter.  We understand that what we are is shaped by what we give and receive from others.
These two pieces invite reflection on how we rebuild ourselves—not just as individuals, but as a collective humanity that grows, intertwines, and strengthens through its diversity.
