Corban's Easter Egg Count
8 Apr 10:00AM - 22 Apr 4:00PM
Visit Corban Estate Arts Centre during the April School Holidays and you're likely to see some strange looking fruit hanging from our branches!
Established by past Corban Estate Arts Centre resident artists Bernie Harfleet & Donna Turtle Sarten, Give a Kid a Blanket is a movement grown from one of their 'Community Activated Art Actions' that was built on the belief that no child should go to bed cold.
After hearing a Coroner’s report in 2015 that stated a child’s death was in part due to the family’s damp and cold living conditions, Bernie and Donna started Give a Kid a Blanket as a piece of Art Action. After 5 years of action in the community, the project became a registered charity and has since created a movement of kindness that serves its mission to relieve the effects of poverty and offer practical help to those in need.
Warm for Winter Appeal
Every year the GaKaB team fundraise and gather donations to keep as many people warm as possible, with this year's collection campaign running for 8 weeks from Sat 28 May - Sun 24 July.
We are proud to be an official collection point for the 2022 Winter Appeal, accepting donation drop-offs of warmth including blankets, duvets, bedding, clothing and self-care essentials. To ensure the people they support feel valued by the community, only new, handmade and excellent quality pre-loved items are accepted.
*Closed on Queen's Birthday Mon 06 June, and Matariki Holiday Fri 24 June*
Please bring your excellent quality warm items into the Reception of the Homestead Galleries.
