Hue Hui

Join us in the Homestead Galleries for a hui delving into the growth and art of Hue, explored in the current exhibition Forgotten Vessels - Waiting for the Early Dawn.

Artist Numa Mackenzie (Nature’s Gentleman) will lead the hui in our shared Ana Pekapeka space in Gallery One, sharing his journey cultivating Hue and the communal support and collective celebration of the natural resource experienced along the way. Attendees will learn about the history, cultivation and harvesting of Hue, as well as learning about different techniques explored in the accompanying exhibition for the embellishment and function of Hue in contemporary art practice and life. Attendees will be invited to take Hue seeds home with them to continue their own journeys.
