Pakiwaitara - Taniwha Tales

The second in our popular series of pakiwaitara focusing on local histories and place. Pakiwaitara are traditional stories that serve to share knowledge, teach lessons, explain phenomena, and establish social or cultural practices. 

Taniwha Tales follows Tāmaki taniwha across our local landscape, and Waitematā and Manukau harbours.  

This workshop commences with a presentation, and pakiwaitara voiced by master storyteller Pita Turei, followed by a multilayered mixed-media workshop. Each process is interwoven into the story to help embed the memory and inspire imagination. 

Please note that this workshop is only available onsite at Corban Estate Arts Centre. We are unable to offer this workshop at school due to setup and delivery requirements.
