Matariki Poi

Looking into tikanga (customs) and whakapapa (genealogy), tamariki will take inspiration from a star from the Matariki star cluster and create a foam board design to then print onto fabric and use to cover their own poi ball.
Then assembling their poi, they will plait their taura (cord) and create the hukahuka (tassel) to attach on the end. To finish, everyone will learn some basic poi movements and have a go at Māori Poi together.
