 Abstract Landscapes

Take part in this 5 day exploratory oil painting workshop, creating sketchbook content and building a body of work inspired by the heritage architecture and natural landscape of Corban Estate Arts Centre. Participants will be taught about colour theory, colour mixing and painting techniques with an emphasis on experimentation and individual development to suit all levels. All these learnings will then be combined to create a single abstract landscape masterpiece on canvas.

Born in Whanganui and now living in Nelson, Sally Barron studied in the UK where she lived for a number of years, attending Leeds University and the Royal College of Art in London. Sally works almost exclusively in oils with key themes exploring memory and our relationship with the environment, balancing figuration with the abstract. She uses emotionally charged colours and gestural techniques influenced by post impressionists and abstract expressionism. Her recent works describe the nature of childhood in a New Zealand landscape.

Sally is currently represented by Red Gallery Nelson and Exhibitions Gallery in both Auckland and Wellington.
