 My Painted Landscape

This workshop brings to life the tradition of sketching the landscape en plain air.

Drawing inspiration from some of NZ’s best known landscape painters such as Toss Woollaston, Colin McCahon and Rita Angus , students will discover how to study the lights and darks of a landscape and how to describe 3 dimensional shapes with brushstrokes and colour.

Students will collaborate to build 3d model landscape stretching down the middle of our worktables from small pieces of our local whenua which will provide the source for the subsequent painting. Kids can have fun arranging their own imaginary landscapes and will each create a large A2 sized painting.
