Workshop

Taku Hoe

Available through Term 2
Mon 29 April - Fri 5 July

 Taku Hoe

In this workshop, students will study the significance of Hoe (paddles) and the majestic waka vessels they navigate.

Discovering the artistry of Kōwhaiwhai patterns adorning these paddles, students will delve into the rich Māori heritage. Engaging in hands-on creativity, they will construct personalised contemporary or traditional neutral-coloured hoe using cardboard. Adding a tactile dimension, participants will fashion a harakeke cord for displaying their Hoe mahi toi, creating a tangible connection to Aotearoa’s cultural history.
