 My Still Life Masterpiece

This workshop brings a fresh approach to the still-life genre. Students will create an artwork that is influenced by historical drawing techniques as well as contemporary new approaches. They will compose their models from objects of their choosing, allowing for experimentation with colour, shape, texture, and size. We will learn how to draw things fluffy, hard, or shiny, all while making creative decisions to make each work unique. Aotearoa artist Frances Hodgkins will be our inspiration for this workshop, where we will explore the ways that she draws what she sees as well as what she imagines.
