Class
Turn a raw Tui silhouette cut out from plywood into a wonderful piece of art. We will learn to prepare our wooden surface for painting, create a sunrise/sunset landscape on one side and work with Maori kowhaiwhai stencils over part of the image. To finish we will learn to gold leaf these creating a taonga to take home and hang on the wall at home.
Please bring your own sunset/sunrise photograph of a special place, your Turangawaewae to work from if you wish.
The course fees include all materials, but remember… students need to wear old clothes and bring their lunch and a drink bottle.

Kites that fly our words high up in the sky. This workshop takes cues from the rich history of Protest art in Aotearoa, and asks young people what they would want to say and then gives them the tools to fly their words high for everyone to see.
