Embark on an adventure back in time to explore the marvels of ancient civilisations, and the mysterious legend of El Dorado - City of Gold.
Led by Sur-Collective ceramic artist Catherine Guevara, in this six-week children's clay sculpting course we'll be engaging hands-on learning with sculpting and construction skills, pairing curiosity and imagination with creative education.
Learning the origin of the legend of El Dorado, we'll take inspiration from the mythical indigenous chief of Muisca, Zipa, who would cover himself in gold dust, offering treasures to the Guatavita Goddess.
Experimentation will be the key to our finished results, as we learn to carve into the semi-dry surface of our creations, forming relief patterns, that will be completed with special glazes and slips.
Allow 2-3 weeks for firing, before returning to collect your finished creation.
