 The Fundamentals of Clay

Guided by ceramicist Catherine Guevara, this 6-week adult beginners course is designed to introduce students to a variety of structural and decorative techniques. In a supportive environment students will be able to utilise the workshop learning to develop their own unique clay pieces.

Over the 6-week course pottery techniques including slab building, pinch pots and coiling will be taught as well as surface decoration, experimenting with underglaze painting and other surface treatments including carving. All materials are included – just turn up and create! Finished works will be glazed and fired, food-safe, waterproof, dish-washer safe and available to collect at a later date.

Catherine Guevara, an experienced tutor, also has her own dedicated ceramics practice, through which she examines the process of ceramic-making, imbuing layers of clay with memory and history.

All materials and firing are provided and includes:
7kg of clay per student
A range of underglazes, and all the necessary tools to use
Bisque and Glaze firing – food-safe, waterproof and dishwasher safe

Please note there is no class on Monday 2nd June (King's Birthday)
