Join us for an exhilarating painting workshop that teaches the principles of expressionism while igniting creativity and self-expression!
In this two-day workshop, teens will explore the dynamic world of exigency and intuitive painting within the expressionist art movement, with a nod to street art influences.
Led by young multidsciplinary creative and recent Elam graduate Elise Sadier (BA Hon), Elise will be guiding a journey through the key elements of expressionism, while also introducing students to prominent Expressionist artists for inspiration. Working collaboratively to research favourite works, students will be encouraged to consider process and subject matter to begin formulating concepts and themes for their own work.
This workshop will cover the art of prepping and priming a painting surface, mastering the techniques of mixing and layering pastels, paints, graphite, and white pencil. Explore the thrill of switching between materials, experiment with lettering, and indulge in abstract paint dripping infused with line drawing, all while focusing on the process of layering and building your masterpiece.
A wonderful opportunity for both independant intuitive exploration and collaborative creation on larger scales, either in pairs or groups.
