** POSTPONED **
Storytelling is a strong component of every culture, with art and body adornment central to sharing our human experience.
Led by Sur-Collective visual artist Juliana Durán, during this one-day workshop we’ll examine icons that hold personal significance, using drawing as a key part of our process to produce a unique wearable pendant that holds personal meaning to us.
Guided by the historical and cultural context of indigenous pectoral art from South America, we’ll investigate the rich diversity of artistic expression, creating a platform for discussions about cultural appropriation to support our journey through symbolism, abstract mark-making, and pictographs.
Carving a series of lino stamps that carry our unique voice and imagery, we’ll develop a small series of prints before pressing a favourite motif into clay, to create a personal pendant that can be worn, or hung as a necklace or decoration.
Allow 2-3 weeks for firing, before returning to collect your finished creation.
