Pasifica Painting

Beginning with observational drawing of a Pasifica inspired still life display, you’ll learn about perspective, composition and how to use pencil weight and technique to determine shadow and light, discovering form.
Transferring your most successful drawing onto lavalava covered board, you’ll add cheerful colour through layers of acrylic paint, using the fabrics patterns as a vibrant background resulting in a vibrant artwork to take home.

In Henderson Park there lives a colony of Pekapeka-tou-roa—tiny bats flitting through the night, feeding on insects and roosting in the giant ancient trees. In this workshop, students will explore the habitat and behavior of our native long-tailed bats before creating their own zoetrope.
