This six-week life drawing course offers an experimental, spontaneous, and engaging opportunity for you to explore the human form in all its permutations.
Guided by practicing artist Rachael Burke, employing several experimental drawing techniques, this open, supported workshop focuses on creative spontaneity and free expression, encouraging participants to connect with the energy of the subject in a non-analytical way. This often entails working at speed, enabling you to disengage with the intellect and the desire to anticipate an outcome.
This approach results in dynamic, energetic, unbounded drawings, and a generative body of work. The course covers gestural and contour drawing, tone, mark-making, foreshortening, and negative space. Working with a different model each week participants will use a variety of mediums such as charcoal, chalk, vivid pen, oil pastels and acrylic ink.
Participants will explore their own creative process and receive some guided instruction and feedback. On completion you will work with more confidence, intuition, and less fear. Suitable for the novice or advanced practitioner.
