Stretches and Bends

Influenced by Kantian philosophical ideas on how compositional elements of painting can engage the mind in an aesthetic play, Krystie Wade’s suite of abstract landscape paintings draw the viewer into an imaginative space.

Removed from the historical single-perspective landscape format, Wade provides a retreat away from the rigor of everyday life by presenting her own interpretation of the world around us. Through multiple view-points and a dynamic use of colour, composition and texture, Wade turns to oil paint to explore the topographical, ecological and emotional aspects of nature.
