Hear about exhibition highlights and behind-the-scenes stories with Curator and Exhibitions Manager Madeleine Gifford.
Inspired by her grandmother’s collection of flowers, Debbie Harris’ practice considers the garden and object-based installation as like-minded systems of composition that are representative of one another. In her debut solo-exhibition following her Masters degree, both the garden and the gallery installation are explored for their considerations of colour, texture and their arrangement of objects in space. Through the making process, each object in the gallery has changed throughout its own unique creation as it has evolved in a cycle of blossoming and blooming. Using ceramics, textiles and mixed media, Harris transforms the gallery into an immersive installation that symbolically has transformed, blossomed and budded again.
