Bamboo Sheath Landscapes and the art of Stanley Palmer

Inspired by Aotearoa artist Stanley Palmer, tamariki learn the process of turning a sheet of bamboo into a striking artwork.

Ngā ākonga will etch a landscape into a bamboo sheath using the technique of intaglio, and get to see the process of using a large printing press. We will then explore the use of watercolour and ink wash techniques, and come away with a hand-coloured landscape print and original bamboo printing plate, as well as new knowledge of this unique approach to printmaking.
