Summer School 2027: Screen Print Studio

Learn screen printing from a pro! In this 3-day hands-on Summer School workshop with graphic designer and screen printer Hunter Boyu, you will learn the practical steps to set up and screen print your own designs on textiles.  
 
The workshop will cover screen design, exposure, printing, registration, curing, and basic production. With practical guidance and troubleshooting advice along the way, the workshop is suitable for both beginners or anyone wanting to upskill to a more professional approach. 
 
You will primarily use heat-set water-based printing inks, with the opportunity to experiment with plastisol inks to learn the difference in effect. Print onto provided calico or bring your own garments to customise in class.

Hunter Boyu is a designer and screen printer with 7 years of experience across commercial print factories in NZ while running his own garage setup. He runs the streetwear brand Scud Rat and previously organized the Streetwear is Dead market. He teaches screen printing from a practical, hands-on perspective - focusing on what actually works when printing your own clothing and designs.
