Rūaumoko and the Volcanic Landscape of Tāmaki Makaurau

A creative response to story and science through the formation of our local landscape, a land of lava and strata. Starting in the darkness beneath Papatūānuku in the realm of Rūaumoko we will grind our own clay pigments.

Each new art process will be revealed as part of the story interwoven with the geological formation of a volcanic landscape. Students will then create their own 3d collage landscape using a variety of paper art techniques. Young students will focus on the play and practicalities of making while older ones will be encouraged to develop skills with composition and balance. This workshop can be delivered site-specific at your school.
