Sculpt your own pekapeka (bat) in this one-day school holiday workshop with artist and experienced educator Sarah Cowie.
In this workshop kids will learn simple sculpting techniques using Sculpey polymer clay, aluminum foil and wire armature. They’ll then paint their sculpture to add colour and personality. Finishing off with hand-sewn wings their pekapeka pal will be ready to hang up at home.

In Henderson Park there lives a colony of Pekapeka-tou-roa—tiny bats flitting through the night, feeding on insects and roosting in the giant ancient trees. In this workshop, students will explore the habitat and behavior of our native long-tailed bats before creating their own zoetrope.
