Learn the basics of mosaics while creating a round mandala for healing, meditation or just a decorative conversation piece in your home.
In this 2-day weekend workshop with artist Rowena Rooney you will learn about the tools and materials to develop a basic knowledge of mosaics. From designing and creating, to learning how to clean and grout your round mandala to a polished finish, this workshop is perfect for beginners and beyond.
This is a 2-day workshop. Participants need to be able to attend on both days.

Optional: Students can bring any tiles, crystals or gems they would like to include in their design. Students can create a mandala design on paper beforehand if they like and bring with them.

In Henderson Park there lives a colony of Pekapeka-tou-roa—tiny bats flitting through the night, feeding on insects and roosting in the giant ancient trees. In this workshop, students will explore the habitat and behavior of our native long-tailed bats before creating their own zoetrope.
