Giles Smith is a representational oil painter working in the tradition of historical painting, exploring both personal and contemporary ideas. Rooted in classical oil techniques, he considers himself as a “humble practitioner in a long and glorious tradition”.

Spend many dissolute years as a signwriter/ muralist and guilder in London, Smith arrived in Aotearoa New Zealand in 1994 and began a career in Scenic art in the film and theatre sector.
