“I grew up in a townhouse on the fourth floor in Germany, a long way away from Aotearoa. Since living here, the natural environment has become one of my main inspirations when creating. I have a profound appreciation for the untamed West Coast beaches. They spark my creative process resulting in the shaping of clay every day, even after 35 years of making.
Clay: Form and Function is a reflection of my interest in shaping functional objects with playful, unusual and surprising elements, many of which embody the earth tones and patterns I encounter in my everyday environment."
