In this two-day workshop, teens will explore the dynamic world of exigency and intuitive painting within a neo-expressionist style, designing a monster, creature, avatar or imaginary friend.
Led by young multidisciplinary creative and recent Elam graduate Elise Sadlier (BFA Hon), Elise will be guiding a journey through the key elements of neo-expressionism, while also introducing students to prominent Expressionist artists for inspiration. A wonderful opportunity for teens to unleash their creativity and develop their own artistic voice in a supportive and dynamic environment.
This workshop will focus on drawing as a key design tool before prepping and priming their painting surface, mastering the techniques of mixing and layering pastels, paints, graphite, and white pencil. Explore the thrill of switching between materials and additional methods to loosen up your working style. Continue this whakaaro and process of building and layering to complete your large-scale painting, igniting creativity and self-expression!
Students must be at least 12 years old for this workshop, not suitable for under 12's.
