Workshop
Beginning with observational sketches of themselves using mirrors, kids will be guided through creating their own vibrant self-portrait using painting techniques.
Closely studying how hair sits on the head, how lips stretch over smiles and the colour spectrum in eyes, Leela will help kids develop brush and paint application techniques, as well as colour mixing. Each portrait will incorporate unique symbolism to represent things that are special to the new artist.

Kites that fly our words high up in the sky. This workshop takes cues from the rich history of Protest art in Aotearoa, and asks young people what they would want to say and then gives them the tools to fly their words high for everyone to see.
