In this intensive 5-day creative workshop with award-winning author and editor Anne Kennedy, you will learn how to write a well-rounded main character who lives and breathes, thinks and acts. With Anne’s guidance, you will discover craft elements to do with character that many professional writers use. Through writing, workshopping, reading and revising, you will finish this course with a character-based short story and a set of tools to create more stories.

About Anne Kennedy:

Anne Kennedy is a fiction writer, poet, and screenplay editor. Her latest book is Moth Hour (AUP), short-listed in the 2020 Ockham Book Awards. The novel, The Ice Shelf (VUP), appeared in 2018. Awards and residencies include the NZ Post Book Award for Poetry, the Montana Book Award for Poetry, the University of Iowa International Writers' Program, and the IIML Writers' Residency. Anne has taught creative writing at The University of Hawai`i, Manukau Institute of Technology, and Massey University.
