EASTER HOLIDAY ART CLASSES PROGRAMMELet your child stretch their creative wings over 2 exciting jam-packed weeks of classes that are both educational and fun! Children work in a studio setting and enjoy developing unique skills in a safe environment. Classes are from 10am – 2.30pm and are either one or two days long. The course fee includes materials. Students need to bring their lunch and an old shirt to protect their clothes.

VINYL PAINTING (8 – 14 YRS)
TUTOR: BOBBY HUNG (BERST – TMD)
Tues 10 – Wed 11 April | 10am- 2.30pm | Fee: $55
Create your own graffiti art on a vinyl record using marker pens. This workshop will show you how to turn your ideas on paper into dynamic artworks transferring text or images onto a record. You will use a variety of graffiti art and will be shown different techniques and processes. Create your own unique artwork.

RECYCLED GRAFFITI SCULPTURES
(8 – 14 YRS)

Turn your graffiti inspired drawings on paper into graffiti sculptures using recycled materials. Students will be taught a variety of processes and techniques to create dynamic and unique work. Participants need to bring a sketch book, all other materials included in course fee.

Taking inspiration from Margaret Mahy's book Down the back of the chair we will be drawing, painting, printing and using collage to make our own imaginative artworks. This will be a fun workshop for any young artist!

What is it that you love doing the most in the world? What is special and unique about you and your personality? Let’s make symbols from these ideas and tell a story about you. From these drawings you will make a fun and bright mosaic that lets the world know just how awesome you are!

BEAUTIES AND BEASTS (5 – 10 YRS)

Making all kinds of wild and gorgeous beings is the inspiring theme for this pottery class, where everybody will make their individually designed sculpture. Children will learn about clay sculpting techniques and ways of decorating their ceramic figures with slips and glaze.

SHOW AND TELL (6 – 12 YRS)

Imagine if you brought a dinosaur or a dragon to school for show and tell! Use mixed media to create a picture of the most fantastic creature you can imagine. What a surprise it will stir when you take it along to school! Have fun in this inventive art class combining painting, printmaking and collage.

DESIGN YOUR OWN COMIC T-SHIRT (7 – 14 YRS)
TUTOR: GRANT COLE
Mon 16 – Tue 17 April | 10am – 2.30pm | Fee: $55
Create your own comic character and story. Learn how to draw faces with plenty of expression and character, to create comic lettering and to use markers to bring a bold, colourful style to your artwork. At the end of the course, the comic character and story are transferred to a T-shirt to be displayed to the world - a virtual comic on legs! Please supply your own white or light coloured T-shirt.

DUCK, DUCK, GOOSE (5 – 9 YRS)

Children will be guided to make a beautifully decorated clay platter with small sculptures around the rim using a variety of pottery techniques. The process of shaping the soft material with their hands will inspire their creativity in a playful way.

Create a wonderful artwork in which all sorts of magical objects and animals emerge from a magician’s hat! Learn painting tricks and techniques and invent your own painting “wands” to design fabulous textures. Create an imaginative piece of art that is sure to surprise you and your family.

Create your own Arctic landscape from soft white clay! Picture icebergs, jumping whales and penguins huddling together in the cold…These are just a few examples to fire up your imagination. Pottery wheels are available.
